We’ve qualified for grant funding from the School for Social Entrepreneurs to cover two admin roles for our gym. They are both self-employed opportunities that we anticipate needing 2 days work per week assuming an early November start.
Depending on the availability and experience of applicants we may choose to divide the work between 2 people. Both roles are grant funded and only available until the funding deadline of June 2023, at which point all work must be finalised. The grant covers 52 days of work (per role) at a rate of £15ph
Role 1: Outreach
With the support and guidance from the Directors of Bristol Co-operative Gym (BCG), this role will create the framework for our Exercise Referral Programme and the framework for working with partners for customised short courses for their clients. This work will include:
- Creating a Exercise Referral programme outline, along with costings and funding options
- Creating an outline for a partnership programme, along with costings and funding options
- Contacting potential partners to build a contact list
- Creation of a waiting list for the first Exercise Referral course
- Creating info packs that can be sent to potential partners / social prescribers outlining the details of the programmes
Alongside this, we also have a marketing budget that can be accessed for the purpose of promoting our subsidised membership rate of gym class subscriptions. This work will include:
- Identifying best use of marketing budget to extend our marketing reach to novel audiences
- Promotion of our existing offerings

- This is a remote role using your own equipment (computer/internet)
- Some meetings will be required with BCG Directors and potential partners and clients (either remote or face to face)
- Days/hours worked per week will be agreed with BCG when accepting the role.
- Payment after submission of weekly or monthly timesheets and invoice (depending on agreement).
Role 2: Systems Documentation
The Directors of Bristol Co-operative gym will provide guidance and access to existing documentation so that you can work with us to create new (or update existing) documentation relating to the administration of the gym. This will include:
- Reviewing existing policies and update them where appropriate
- Creating new policies if required
- Documenting processes relating to ongoing gym administration
- Creating “onboarding” guides for co-op members
The final output of this work will be a digital “Gym Administrator’s Handbook” that will include links to policies where relevant, and contain all guidelines and onboarding materials.
