Animal Movement Workshop
Venue: All Hallows Hall, 13 All Hallows Road, BS5 0HH
Time: 11th August, 14:00-16:00
Cost: £15 (10% off for co-op members)
Coach: Isidora Vlachou

Introduction

Animal Movement improves our strength, fitness, balance and mobility through playful, fun and mindful movement using only your bodyweight.

It is a new and unique style of continuous combos and flows, taught in a systematic and progressive way.

With no equipment needed, this is a wonderful way of getting a challenging workout at home, while travelling or at the gym.

Session content

We will begin with a head-to-toe warm-up to get our entire body primed and ready for action. After this, we will prepare our wrists and then use a series of static holds to create a solid foundation from which to work.

Next, we will use a series of techniques to develop strength and mobility, each based around different animal forms – stationary, then travelling, then shifting between the different forms, exploring our reflexes and co-ordination.

Requirements

Please bring comfortable clothes you can move in. Long sleeves and full-length joggers are recommended. We will be rolling and sliding on the floor, it’s really important to cover shoulders, legs and stomach to avoid any skin burns! Also, please bring a water bottle and snacks to keep you going. We will take breaks throughout the session.

There is no fitness pre-requisite, although you should be able to comfortably support your own bodyweight while on all fours.

Booking

Animal Movement is a wonderful training system for increasing mobility, flexibility, stability, strength, power, endurance, agility and coordination of movement. It can be used as an approach for training without equipment, as a way for beginners to connect to their body through mindful, complex movement; and for athletes to fill in the gaps of conventional strength training.

The workshop will be lead by our wonderful coach, Isidora Vlachou. It costs £15 (10% off for members of the co-operative). Capacity is 16 people, so you can be sure that we will all receive Isidora’s expert attention and coaching cues.
